DVD Copies from Videotape*

DVD copies can be made one of two ways – "straight" from the source tape, without interactivity, and "interactive" or "authored," with chapters and scene buttons, just like commercially-produced DVDs. Straight copying is less expensive than authoring a DVD, but offers fewer options for skipping around the program. Prices for straight copying appear directly below – guidelines to pricing on authored, interactive DVDs follow.

MPEGs and other Media formats from Videotape

Website and other computer applications require video to be converted to one of several digital formats – the most common is .mpg or .mpeg, which can be provided on CD-Rom for loading into the software being used to create the site or computer- based program. Depending on its use, video is compressed at different resolutions – streaming media on the web requires a much lower resolution video image than a CD-Rom played directly from disk to the computer screen. Tell us how you’re using the video and in what format your site designer or programmer is requesting the conversion, and we will get you precisely what you need. Prices start at $45 for simple MPEG conversions under 10 minutes, and go up from there depending on the number of video clips, their lengths, the required format, their compression resolution, etc.

Video can also be converted to Quicktime (.mov), Real Media (.rm) and Windows Media (.wmv), but prices are quoted based on actual compression times at $70/hour of computer time. Call or e-mail us for additional information and a price quote.
